🏠Home, er, Yard Improvement Project🏡

We have been working on making the lawn beautiful this year. To try and keep from killing grass we are putting kids toys on platforms. This is the first one.

I like the way it looks. The sand box is next, and then Papa can put the tarp up on the swing set.

This is interesting

Found this on Facebook and thought it was interesting. Now I have to go look at my jars. My 1/2 gallon jars came from the basement of a local children's home. Others I have picked up willy nilly at garage sales and auctions. I do have some bicentennial ones as well, which are cool.

Somebody was all tired out tonight

Only made it through half a book.

It's a functional cabinet now!

I have this weird little cabinet by my refrigerator. A little 9 inch base cabinet that is only there to fill a void. Some cabinet brainiac decided to put a half shelf in the back. Really? You can't even reach back there! So I pulled everything out, marked a new shelf and had Holly take it out to Papa John to cut. Now I have a functional baking sheet/cutting board cabinet!

Ignore the dust, I'll get around to it someday!

This week Andy graduated from college. We are so proud of him. It was a long haul, but his hard work paid off.

Here he is sporting a fresh haircut and with his wee ones.

Graduation at the coliseum was a bit of a zoo.

Thank goodness he is tall, or we would never have been able to pick him out in the crowd. We celebrated afterward with dinner at his favorite, Olive Garden.

Homemade Lemonade

Me and my sidekick made real fresh lemonade today, yummy! The lemons come from Bumpa's trees in Florida

Green Beekeeping AKA Another Excuse To Drive The Farm Buggy Around

Our bees did not make it through the winter. We don't know why, there was plenty of honey in the hive. So we needed to clean out the hive in preparation for a new hive. No more heavy lifting and carrying. Pushing wheel barrow with all those heavy frames. We can put 4 supers on the back and stack a couple more on top if need be. Really works well.

Happy May Day!

It's been awhile since I posted, so I'd better get caught up!

April went by in a flash, but here are some highlights.

Holly got a dozen chicks, came home with them in a box from LTD. For awhile they were in the house, and she would go get one to play with. Here she is with Princess Chicky, playing in her princess house.

We also had company come to visit. My parents travelled up from Florida in their new motor home. I only have one photo of the rig, only showing the cab.

Shown here when I was getting a snap of Michael sitting on Papa's motorcycle.

We had a very interesting thing happen. We found out that we had been mistaken when declaring Barney the cat to be a boy. Holly opened what she thought was an empty box on the porch, and then next thing we heard was, "Look what Barney's got!"

Looks to be two girls and four boys, but don't quote me on that.

Holly is enjoying the new plates Beema and Bumpa brought, she says they are perfect for when you are having corn on the cob!

Little Michael is anxious to start working on the farm. He was in the milk parlor the other day trying to pry the top off a milk bucket!

Here's the newest development on the farm. Papa John is going green! We now have an electric Farm Buggy. Papa John put a trailer hitch on it and now we can transport all kinds of things all over the farm. We can work smart and be green!

Holly is a big fan of pears. She will consume almost the entire fruit. Here's her big smile while eating one with my favorite hairdo.

Side ponies rock!
